Minor in Computer Science
This minor is offered by the Department of Computer Science. The curriculum consists of two segments: core courses and electives whose purpose is to provide the student with depth in an area of computer science, for a total of 18 credits. School of Engineering and Applied Science students enrolled in programs other than computer science may also complete a minor in Computer Science.
6 Required CSCI courses:
- CSCI 1111 Introduction to Software Development (3 cr)
- CSCI 1112 Algorithms and Data Structures (3 cr)
- CSCI 1311 Discrete Structures I (3 cr)
- CSCI 2113 Software Engineering (3 cr)
- CS Elective course 1 (3 cr) - CSCI course with a prerequisite of CSCI 2113 or above.
- CS Elective course 2 (3 cr) - CSCI course with a prerequisite of CSCI 2113 or above.
- Please consult the GW Bulletin for a list of undergraduate computer science courses. Other electives may be substituted, as appropriate, upon approval from your advisor.
Additional requirements for the CS minor
- Credits in residence requirement: At least 15 credits of the CSCI courses must be completed in-residence at GW.
- Graduation GPA requirement: To satisfactorily complete a second major, a minimum GPA of 2.2 is required in all CSCI courses taken.
