Congratulations to Dr. James Hahn, who has been named the 2019 SEAS Distinguished Researcher. Dr. Hahn is internationally recognized as a leader in computer graphics, augmented reality, and haptics. His recent focus applies these techniques in medicine, particularly in the use of augmented reality for surgical training and novel treatments to address eating disorders. He pioneered the field of automated motion control using simulation, motion capture, and genetic programming. He has been the principal investigator of multiple National Institutes of Health research grants, and he served as the director of the GW Institute of Biomedical Engineering for 14 years.
